THE WAY TO WALK
January 30, 2026Then teach them the statutes and the laws, and make known to them the way in which they are to walk and the work they are to do. Exodus 18:20
In the book of Exodus, Moses’s father-in-law, Jethro, saw that Moses was stretched too thin trying to do everything himself and was in need of prioritization and delegation. So, Jethro told Moses to focus on teaching the law and making known to the Israelites two things: 1. The way in which they are to walk and 2. the work they are to do. Here are four biblical ways to walk that, when prioritized, will cause our lives to excel.
1. WALK BY FAITH. “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). Faith is the expression of confidence that God is going to see us through. This means that our sensory perceptions, though beneficial and extremely important, are not the same as this connection we have where God’s Spirit bears witness with our spirit (Romans 8:16), enabling us to walk by faith.
2. WALK IN LOVE (Ephesians 5:2). By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35). Faith works through love (Galatians 5:6). Love values even its enemies and wants them to experience Jesus (Matthew 5:44). “
3. WALK IN WISDOM. “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is” (Ephesians 5:15-17 NKJV). Biblical wisdom means insight into the true nature of things, with a view to the end result. When we lack wisdom in any area, we can ask God for it (James 1:5).
DEFINITION:
cir·cum·spect, adj.
Heedful of circumstances and potential consequences; prudent.
4. WALK IN THE LIGHT. “For you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light (for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord” (Ephesians 5:8-10). When you walk in the light, God will check you when you’re in the wrong, and you can be quick to repent, quick to ask forgiveness, and quick to forgive.
As you stay in these target priority zones of walking in faith, love, wisdom, and light, you stay available to the timely move of the Holy Spirit; And it’s in that atmosphere that amazing miracles transpire.

PRAY THIS OUT LOUD: Lord, I ask that You please help me to gain ground in these vital areas of faith, love, light, and wisdom. You who have begun a good work in me will perform it to the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6). Faithful are You who calls me, and You will also do it (1 Thessalonians 5:24), in Jesus’ Name, amen.
