GOD IS REAL, AND WE NEED HIM!
June 12, 2026For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. Romans 1:20
1. CREATION REVEALS GOD. Creation was created by a Creator – God. Through what He has made, we can see His invisible attributes, His eternal power, and His divine nature. Go outside and look at the stars – they aren’t for astrology or fortune telling. But when you look at the constellations, they do declare the glory of God (Psalm 19:1-2). God counts them all and knows each one by name (Psalm 147:4; Isaiah 40:26). Honest, intelligent, scientific minds are grappling with the fundamentals of how things began and what things are made of on the subatomic level. That is a worthy pursuit. And this verse clarifies what will ultimately be discovered: that the basis of everything reflects the Creator.
The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words; their voice is not heard. Psalm 19:1-3
2. HUMANITY REVEALS ITS NEED FOR GOD. In the book of Romans, Paul is writing to the sophisticated Roman world. As you read through the first chapter, you’ll see how unbelief, doubt, and cynicism toward God, along with alternate belief systems, began to encroach on humanity. Ultimately, Paul is showing that they made a really bad swap when “they exchanged the truth of God for a lie” (Romans 1:25a). I’ve seen intelligent, educated people who lived a life dismissing the notion of God, then have an encounter with Him. Their change of heart wasn’t driven by an outward crisis. Their desperation was a hunger, and I know it to be the grace of God moving on hearts through the Holy Spirit.
3. GOD’S WORD REVEALS HIS POWER. No opening line in history is more charged and potent than, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). Then John chapter one begins with “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1). Words have power. God uttered His voice and creation occurred from it. He has eternal power. “In the beginning” refers to the beginning of the created world; God’s power existed before creation and will remain after we’re gone. It has no beginning or end. The drum is still beating: His invisible attributes, His eternal power, and His divine nature are clearly seen through what He has made and through His Word.

PRAY THIS OUT LOUD:
Father, I pray that in all of my interactions with people, I would conduct myself with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity, and that my speech would always be seasoned with grace so that I will know how I should respond to each person (Colossians 4:5-6). I pray that when I speak about You, ears would be open, hearts would be receptive, and souls would come into the kingdom of God, in Jesus’ Name, amen.
