The Result of Wisdom

February 13, 2022

The wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. James 3:17

1. WHAT IS WISDOM? There is an earthly type of “wisdom” which is described in the Bible as sensual, demonic, jealous and arrogant (James 3:14-16), but Jesus invites us to seek authentic wisdom which is “peace-loving, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial, free of hypocrisy” (James 3:17).

2. HOW TO GET WISDOM. God has answers corresponding to every situation, trial, or temptation we encounter. We find wisdom from Scripture; by the presence and counsel of the Holy Spirit; and by the benefit of godly people in our lives. If we ask God for wisdom, He won’t mock or insult us — He’ll freely give it (James 1:5).

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5

3. THE BENEFITS OF WISDOM. Seek out godly wisdom for every area of life — in your job, in your home life, in your relationships. When we walk in wisdom, our blind spots get covered and we look smart. If we’re confused about something, the wisdom of God will clear the fog and bring peace and direction.

God bless you!
