The Light of the World

December 31, 2012

He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. John 1:2-5

Jesus is so unique. There is no one like Him. The name of Jesus is the only name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). He is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of God’s nature (Hebrews 1:3). If you know Jesus, you know the Father (John 14:7).

There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man. John 1:9

And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. Hebrews 1:3a

Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. James 1:17

We too are called to be the light of the world (Matthew 5:14), reflecting Jesus as the moon reflects the sun.

If you are concerned about the world we’re in right now, where people’s love has grown cold (Matthew 24:12), don’t fear—even darkness becomes light to the Lord (Psalm 139:12). God is good. He yearns to heal and repair broken humanity. And He wants to use us to be light bearers—carrying the name of Jesus into every area and strata of the world.

God bless you,
Pastor Jeff
