The Goodness Of God

October 10, 2008

The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble, and He knows those who take refuge in Him. Nahum 1:7

It’s important to get in the Word so you can choose the good report over the bad. Your roots must reach deep down—past your present circumstances. Here are some scriptures to strengthen your faith as you trust God to see you through and bring His plan to pass:

O taste and see that the Lord is good; how blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! Psalm 34:8

For the Lord is good; His loving kindness is everlasting and His faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 100:5

The Lord also will be a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Psalm 9:9

He only is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken. Psalm 62:2

O my strength, I will sing praises to You; for God is my stronghold, the God who shows me lovingkindness. Psalm 59:17

The Lord God is my strength, and He has made my feet like hinds’ feet, and makes me walk on my high places. Habakkuk 3:19

Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name. He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With a long life I will satisfy him and let him see My salvation. Psalm 91:14-16

Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. Matthew 7:24, 25

You don’t need me to tell you that we live in a fallen world. That is why we run into the refuge and stronghold of God. God is with us when our minds are confounded, He’s with us when our circumstances do not line up, He’s with us when things are disappointing. There is a beginning, middle, and end to every temptation that we face, but His mercies never come to an end (Lamentations 3:22).

Don’t change your theology because of your circumstances. The Truth of God’s Word eclipses and answers every single issue that we face. At some point we just have to humble ourselves and trust that God is going to work it out.

God is good!
