The Deliberate Life

March 9, 2021

For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. 2 Chronicles 16:9a

STAY CLOSE TO JESUS. God sent Jesus to restore that close connection between God and humanity. When we humble ourselves and commit to following Jesus, He sets us free, gives us a new nature, and shows us His purpose for our lives!

Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise people but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. Ephesians 5:15-16

BE A DOER OF THE WORD. This scripture isn’t meant to make you feel desperate but to inspire you to live deliberately. God loves it when we are really doers of the Word (James 1:22). “Doing” pushes us away from settling for intentions and it gets us into divine action.

FOLLOW GOD’S PLAN. We need to differentiate good ideas from God ideas. Ask yourself, “What are the specific things God has called me to do?” We’re not clones and we shouldn’t compare ourselves and our calling to others (2 Corinthians 10:12). Instead, God wants the proper working of each individual part throughout the church (Ephesians 4:16).

WHAT PLEASES GOD? I like to bottom-line the purpose of life by asking: What pleases God? Micah’s prophecy to Israel in the Old Testament reveals what God wants from us. When we commit to living a life of service, walking in love, and keeping it all about Jesus, we’ll see great fruit produced!

God bless you!
Pastor Jeff
