Set Your Mind on Jesus

February 25, 2021

Lift up your eyes on high and see who has created these stars, the One who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, not one of them is missing. Isaiah 40:26

What we set our mind on matters. The prophet Isaiah told the people of Israel to lift up their eyes. Their spiritual imaginations had become starved because they had been looking at the faces of idols. They needed to remember their Creator.

One thing I learned as a young Christian is to walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). While we’re in this life, we have a job: to develop holy imagination. We can lift up our eyes and see the God who called order out of chaos, who made the star fields in the heavens – that’s where our help comes from!

We are people created in God’s image, fashioned by His hand for purposes – some we know about, some we don’t know about – but it’s worth forging ahead to see and realize all that God has planned for each one of us. That’s why it’s important to put away the distractions, everything that is trying to hijack our imagination, and think on the things that are true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, of good repute, excellent, and worthy of praise (Philippians 4:8-9).

God bless you,
Pastor Jeff
