THE BLESSING FROM PSALM 84

May 8, 2026

How blessed are those who dwell in Your house! They are ever praising You. Selah. Psalm 84:4

1. HOW BLESSED IT IS TO DWELL IN GOD’S HOUSE. God invites us to have the blessing of a relationship and connection with Him. Later on in this Psalm, it says, “For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand outside” (Psalm 84:10). The Bible literally is saying that one day really connected to and fellowshipping with God, enjoying Him and loving Him, is infinitely better than almost two and a half years without Him. After I became a Christian, I backslid for about two and a half years. The day I got saved, followed by the day I repented and rededicated my life, were way better days than all the wasted time in between.

How blessed is the man whose strength is in You, in whose heart are the highways to Zion! Psalm 84:5

2. HOW BLESSED IT IS TO FIND OUR STRENGTH IN GOD. How wonderful it is when our strength isn’t based on our own merits, wit, charm, or elegance, but in God. In fact, Psalm 84:7 promises we will go from strength to strength. Paul, a highly educated Pharisee and Roman citizen, said, “For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified” (1 Corinthians 2:2). He counted all that – the accolades, the accomplishments, the achievements – as nothing compared to just knowing Jesus (Philippians 3:8). God is the strength of our lives.

O Lord of hosts, how blessed is the man who trusts in You! Psalm 84:12

3. HOW BLESSED IT IS TO TRUST IN GOD. This amazing Psalm 84 puts us in touch with how much of a blessing it is when we put our trust in Him. Verse 6 says, “passing through the valley of Baca [weeping] they make it a spring.” When we pass through the valley of weeping, hard times, or challenges, but our strength is in the Lord and our heart is inclined toward Him, we will get delivered to the other side. And not only that, the valley of tears becomes a spring of life. Challenges are an opportunity for us to put our trust in the Lord, knowing that whatever we are facing, He can turn it into a blessing.

DEFINITION: pass·ing, (Hebrew: âbar) verb
To cross over; bring (over, through). The verb refers primarily to spatial movement, to “moving over, through, or away from.”

SAY THIS OUT LOUD:
I am blessed today because my strength is in God (Psalm 84:5). I will go from strength to strength (Psalm 84:7). As I trust in the Lord, He will turn challenges into blessings (Psalm 84:6, 12). I will be a blessing to others today. My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
