STRENGTH FOR YOUR DAILY LIFE
June 27, 2025Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary. Isaiah 40:31
1. WALK IT OUT. It often takes more faith to walk in a daily, stabilizing rhythm than for those brief soaring flight surges or sprints we enjoy. It reminds me of what author Eugene Peterson titled one of his books, “A Long Obedience in the Same Direction.” Those who wait upon the Lord can keep a good pace.
2. WAIT UPON THE LORD. Recently, I heard some ministers emphasize the reverse order in Isaiah 40: it starts with flying, then running, then walking. I love when God lifts us to a higher altitude, and we gain perspective – or when He gives us a surge, and we are able to run forward. But the progression to walking highlights that one of the most important things the Lord does is strengthen us to stay steady in our daily walk.
3. WORK THROUGH ANY CHALLENGES. Waiting on the Lord helps us face the challenges of life with strength and determination. Don’t avoid them. Don’t stuff your feelings. Stand on the promises of God. Face every challenge with His Word in Jesus’ Name, saying: “I am going to overcome this.”
DEFINITION
wait, verb
To stay or rest in expectation and patience.
SAY THIS OUT LOUD:
I carry zero resentment into my day today. I walk in love and wait on the Lord. I will mount up like an eagle, run and not get tired, and walk and not become weary. God is the strength of my life. (Psalm 27:1)
