Steps to Strengthening
November 30, 2018He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power. Those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary. Isaiah 40:29, 31
1. GET IN THE WORD. How amazing is it that from weakness we can be made strong? As realistically as push-ups help your physical body, starting the day in the Bible will give you an advantage. It will strengthen your spirit. It will light your path (Psalm 119:105). It will help you overcome bad habits and not be led by the flesh. You will become strengthened with all power in your inner person (Ephesians 3:16).
For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace. Romans 8:5-6
2. WAIT ON THE LORD. Everything good in our lives involves faith and patience. Because of all the modern conveniences and technology, our culture has become addicted to immediacy. But sometimes there are divine delays. Think about how an oak tree takes time to grow. That’s why it’s important to acclimate yourself to the process. Decide to stay with it for the long haul — it’s worth it.
3. SERVE THE LORD WITH GLADNESS. Realize the strengthening value of showing up and serving. When we show up and do our work wholeheartedly for the Lord, it takes us out of introspection and turns our focus to helping someone else. Find a place to serve joyfully!
Press on!
