Security in God

September 2, 2016

Do not fret because of evildoers, be not envious toward wrongdoers. For they will wither quickly like the grass and fade like the green herb. Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:1-4

1. DO NOT FRET. Jesus wants us to be birdwatchers. Next time you go outside, look at the birds as a cure for anxiety. God supplies seeds, worms, and water for them, and you are worth much more to Him than they are. He will take care of all your needs as you walk out this life of faith (Philippians 4:19).

For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life. . . . Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? Matthew 6:25-26

2. TRUST IN THE LORD. The devil attacked even Jesus with questions of if: “If You are the Son of God, prove it. I’ll do this for You if You worship me” (Matthew 4:3-7). The same things Jesus dealt with, we get bombarded with too. To crush these seeds of doubt, we can do just as Jesus did and speak out God’s Word to counteract the lies of the devil.

3. DELIGHT YOURSELF IN THE LORD. We find our joy and rest in the Lord – in His green pastures and beside still waters where He calls us to settle our minds and hearts in Him (Psalm 23:1-3). As you mature, you see that the best thing you can have in life is a personal relationship with God – staying in touch with Him every day, accomplishing His purposes in your life. There is nothing better!

God bless you,
Pastor Jeff

PRAY THIS PRAYER
I love You, Jesus. Thank You for Your Word that brings light to my path. I choose to put my trust in You each day all over again. I delight myself in You, I rest in You, Lord.I will not fret. My steps are established by You, Lord (Psalm 37:23). Amen!
