How to Be Used by God
March 11, 2016The angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.” Luke 1:35a
1. COMMIT BY FAITH. When Mary was told she was going to supernaturally give birth to the Son of God, she asked “How can these things be?” The angel replied, “By the power of the Holy Spirit.” You and I are called to put our hands to building and to trust God for fruitfulness throughout our lives. But when you commit to anything big, you recognize your own inadequacy and inexperience. That’s why God reminds us that it’s not by our might or power but by His Spirit (Zechariah 4:6).
Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Psalm 127:1a
2. TRUST GOD IN EVERY SEASON. Jesus is your sustainer. Since the Lord is building the house, you can be assured that your work will be effective. Life has its rhythms—seedtime and harvest—but God is the author and finisher of your faith from the beginning to the middle to the end (Hebrews 12:2).
3. GET READY FOR THE HARVEST. There is going to be a day coming soon when Jesus will come back with power. Those in the valley of decision need to hear the Gospel, and the task of getting the message to the people is upon us. By the grace of God we can prepare for it and engage our generation and win our world. Get ready to see a tremendous number of people get saved and go on to serve God for the rest of their lives.
Press on!
