Free From Dread

May 11, 2014

For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” Romans 8:15

Reject Fear. You don’t have to be a slave to fear. Perfect love drives out fear and brings it to a complete halt (1 John 4:18). When you become a child of God, all that God has is yours. Lean on the Holy Spirit, stand on the promises of God’s Word, and hold fast to those truths.

Speak Faith. God will never desert us or forsake us in any situation. Declare this boldly over your life: “The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What will man do to me?” (Hebrews 13:5b-6). Speak God’s Word over your kids, over difficult circumstances, over alarming symptoms in your body—whatever challenges you are facing right now.

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; whom shall I dread? Though a host encamp against me, my heart will not fear; though war arise against me, in spite of this I shall be confident. Psalm 27:1, 3

Walk In Peace. The result of our salvation is peace. Take hold of this freedom offered by what Jesus did on the Cross, and step from darkness into God’s marvelous light; out of timidity into boldness; out of the pride of self-reliance into confidence in God. We are called to advance the Kingdom of God, finance His purposes, pray big prayers, and step up to serve in unique and creative ways.

DREAD noun
Fear of something bad that might happen or that is going to happen. To be continuously afraid of someone or something.

Daily Confession
God, I trust You because You are trustworthy. And because You have not given me a spirit of fear leading to slavery again, I am not required to go down the track of fear. I will forget those things that lie behind and reach forward to what lies ahead! I come against fear and alarm and I press forward to the goal of the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Thank You that the chains of dread are broken. Thank You that the bondage has lifted and the oppression must dissipate now in the name of Jesus.

God bless you!
Pastor Jeff
