Daily Perseverance

June 30, 2014

Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14

Trust God. Faith is a position of confident trust and rest in the greatness of God. We know that in spite of the inevitable resistance we encounter in this life, God can and will lift us up, propel us forward, and always cause us to triumph (2 Corinthians 2:14).

Rely on the Holy Spirit. There are many voices coming at us. Some are to be dismissed and ignored, some are to be listened to. The voice of the Holy Spirit is the faithful, reliable indicator of what has been and what will be. He is ready to help you face every challenge and He will guide you into all truth (John 16:13).

“These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me [Jesus] you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Expect breakthrough. Daily we must surrender our human idealism, realizing that life is challenging and in this world we’ll have tribulation—but God has called us to endure and overcome! Think of Caleb and Joshua pressing on through the wilderness, waiting through years that didn’t exhibit any apparent breakthrough. But there came a point when they were called to move forward and enter the Promised Land. God has good things up ahead for you. As you stay steady by the grace of God, you will see His purposes come to pass in your life, in your children and grandchildren, and in your generation.

Daily Confession:
My steps are ordered by the Lord. God’s plan is coming to pass in my life. I am filled with the Holy Spirit and know what to do in every situation I encounter. This one thing I do: I forget what lies behind and I press on to what God has ahead!

per•se•ver•ance noun

Press on!
