Staying Hopeful in the Daily Grind

Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. Galatians 6:9

KEEP IT SIMPLE. The devil will try to divert us from the simplicity of devotion to Jesus (2 Corinthians 11:3). It’s easy to be complicated, but we don’t have that luxury. God gave an open book test in the Bible when He said: “I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life” (Deuteronomy 30:19). Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. It’s that simple. Choose Jesus.

KEEP SHOWING UP. There is something powerful about stick-to-itiveness. But we don’t do it alone. God offers the fruit of the Spirit – a spirit of faithfulness and self-control – to equip us and help us be strong. In the Bible, Joshua and Caleb’s lives reflected their heart commitment. God described Caleb as someone who “has had a different spirit and has followed Me fully” (Numbers 14:24). And Joshua never left the tent of meeting, which is an Old Testament representation of God’s presence (Exodus 33:11). As we too stay in God’s presence and follow Him fully, we will see the Promised Land.

KEEP YOUR HEART STRONG. The pleasures of sin are fleeting, but I want the abiding impact of obedience. If you’ve felt callused or have grown dull and feel diminished, remember there is a God and He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is as present now as He was for the people in the Bible. He is faithful to equip you to handle the daily grind and the long term of your life. Don’t lose heart in serving God. It’s worth it.
