A Life of Favor
June 24, 2013God’s Favor. In the family of God there is no favoritism. Favoritism creates elitism, promotes jealousy, and produces an attitude of entitlement. But God’s favor overturns and eliminates those weird things. When you know you have favor with God, you are able to stand tall and step up to the challenges of life.
For there is no partiality with God. Romans 2:11
Jacob’s Favoritism. Partiality stirs jealously and envy. In the Bible, Jacob loved Joseph more than all his other sons (Genesis 37:3). This produced trouble and challenge in Jacob’s family that lasted for years.
Showing God’s Favor. Dispense with favoritism and move in the favor of God. When you give a compliment, make sure it doesn’t compare someone with others. Instead, use meaningful, God-ordained words that lift and strengthen and give people a boost in their vision and mission.
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good deeds. Hebrews 10:23-24
Strength & Power. God’s favor gives you strength. Even though Joseph inherited a bunch of family dysfunction, God gave him the victory (Genesis 50:20). That same God wants to equip you to overcome too (Ephesians 3:14-18). Even if your dreams have been suppressed or your timing delayed, you can trust God your Father to turn all things around for good (Romans 8:28).
God bless you!
