Walking by Faith
July 22, 2016Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” Matthew 14:28-31
1. STEP OUT OF THE BOAT. God is calling us to be brave and courageous. When we look at circumstances around us, it seems against human logic to step out in faith at God’s bidding. But when we get out of the boat in obedience, nations can be saved, families can be turned around, and individuals can be restored.
He who watches the wind will not sow and he who looks at the clouds will not reap. Ecclesiastes 11:4
2. DON’T WATCH THE WIND. God has called us to a life of faith—to trust Him, believe in His promises, and sow and reap. Instead of fixating on the winds and storms of our times, we are invited to get our eyes on Jesus. What God is going to do in the days ahead includes each one of us. Remain hopeful. There is help for us in God.
3. KEEP LOOKING TO JESUS. He is the hope of the world. All the best that has been or ever will be is in Jesus. He is where your help comes from (Psalm 121:2). People are doing a good job of communicating bad news—but we are to keep speaking the Good News, to keep praying for our world, and to keep believing God for His plan to come to pass on the earth.
Press on!

DAILY CONFESSION
I walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). For it is God who is at work in me both to will and to work for His good pleasure (Philippians 2:13). Faithful is He who calls me and He will also bring it to pass (1 Thessalonians 5:24). At Jesus’ bidding I will step out of the boat and fulfill all that God has called me to do!
