The Power of the Gospel
September 16, 2013And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12
In our era, a lot of people try to avoid their sin. They either drown it in substance abuse or deny it by calling it a good thing, or they deflect guilt by blaming their environment. But it’s all a dead end. You can’t avoid sin. Only Jesus can dissolve it.
None of us wants to come across as narrow minded, but the reality is this: Jesus is not one man in a long list of prophets. Our culture, with its relativism and pluralism, makes us feel embarrassed and awkward that there is no other name by which you can be saved. “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). The exclusivity of the Gospel may offend the modern mind, but it is the truth. Jesus is the only one with the capacity to save us from our sins.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Romans 1:17
Sometimes it’s easy to become conditioned and take things for granted, but if you are a believer in Jesus, you carry good news that is designed to radically change lives. There is hope for every nation, for the secular mindset, for people enshrouded in deception. So break out of routine, dust off the Gospel in all its beauty and power, and be transformed. Be a “bringer.” Be a “sharer.” Invite people to the feast!!!
God bless you,
Pastor Jeff
