The Life of A Soldier

November 11, 2013

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 NIV

Courage. We are fighting a spiritual battle and God has called us to be good soldiers (1 Timothy 2:2). Life is not for sissies, but we don’t have to be nervous or freaked out. God wants to give us strength and grace for every circumstance we face.

Authority. God has given us the authority to pray in the name of Jesus and change circumstances. We don’t ignore the issues and instability of the world, but instead we focus on how stable and powerful God is. When you see something provoking on the news or in your own life, you can pray for God’s will and for resolve in every situation.

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love. 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 NIV

Perseverance. A good soldier realizes that there will be troubles along the way but is not deterred by them, knowing there is advancement on the other side. It’s a daily fight of faith. Every day believe God for what you need—to live out your days, to experience healing in your body, to see your family come to Christ, to get breakthrough at work, to get strategy concerning your finances and your time. God will give you wisdom minute by minute.

Daily Confession: I am strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. I put on the full armor of God, so I am able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. I take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Having done all to stand, I stand firm. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5; 2 Timothy 1:7; Ephesians 6:10-17
