The Assurance of Faith

September 23, 2016

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the men of old gained approval. And what more shall I say? For time will fail me if I tell of [those] . . . who by faith conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, obtained promises. . . Hebrews 11:1, 32-33

1. CONQUER KINGDOMS. Our place in life is to be more than conquerors (Romans 8:37). It’s not an earthly battle we’re fighting but a spiritual one against forces of wickedness (Ephesians 6:12). Jesus has given us delegated authority and we can pray from a position of victory, using Scripture to believe for great things to take place in our city, our region, and our nation.

By faith even Sarah herself received ability to conceive, even beyond the proper time of life, since she considered Him faithful who had promised. Hebrews 11:11

2. PERFORM ACTS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS. God has called us to be change agents in the world. No one thought the sound barrier could be broken or the mile could be run faster than four minutes. And God wants to equip us to press past previously-established barriers and carry out His plan.

For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. 2 Corinthians 1:20 NKJV

3. OBTAIN PROMISES. Not one of God’s promises will ever fail (1 Kings 8:56). He is faithful to a thousand generations and He will be faithful to you (Deuteronomy 7:9). Read all of Hebrews 11 to see results of people who stepped out in faith. As you continually meditate on the promises of God, your faith will be strengthened and you can boldly reach out and take hold of those truths and see them come to pass in your life.

DAILY CONFESSION based on 2 Peter 1:3-4
God’s divine power has granted to me everything pertaining to life and godliness through the true knowledge of Him who called me by His own glory and excellence. By these He has granted to me His precious and magnificent promises so that by them I may become a partaker of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.
