Spiritual Strength
August 26, 2013For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace. Romans 8:5-6
Your spirit is the part of you that God speaks to. The soul consists of the mind that needs to be renewed, the emotions that must be subjected to the reality of Scripture, and the will that needs to submit to God’s purposes. The Bible tells us that we can walk in the Spirit and not fulfill the desires of the flesh, that we can identify temptation and find greater strength to resist it.
In every situation or crisis, the Holy Spirit wants to show you exactly what to do. The apostle Paul prayed that our inner being would be strengthened by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 3:16). Jesus said that the Holy Spirit will be our Strengthener, Helper, Comforter, and Counselor (John 16:7 AMP).
I pray that out of His [God’s] glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being. Ephesians 3:16 NIV
No longer do we have to be soulish people who whip up a bunch of good ideas from our flesh. As we hear the Word of God and listen to the Holy Spirit, He will strengthen us and give direction to our spirit. This is where we get creative ideas, where we get answers, where we get direction, and where we get ready to face the next seasons of life.
God bless and strengthen you,
Pastor Jeff
