REMEMBER YOUR CREATOR
July 24, 2026Sow your seed in the morning and do not be idle in the evening, for you do not know whether morning or evening sowing will succeed, or whether both of them alike will be good. Ecclesiastes 11:6
1. START YOUR DAY WITH GOD. Just like a farmer sows seeds, you can sow into your relationship with God. The verse above talks about sowing in the morning and the evening. Let’s translate that into starting and ending your day by praying and reading the Bible. This is not meant to be a religious obligation but a practical rhythm. Before you start your day, before you turn on a device, TV, or phone, before you even sip your first cup of coffee, turn your attention to God.
2. READ YOUR BIBLE. If the thought of reading the Bible feels overwhelming, start by getting a Bible you enjoy reading – one you don’t have to squint to read and maybe one with tabs to help you find the different books. Then begin simply. Read a chapter or even a verse. Read a Proverb or a chapter in the New Testament. Do a page a day. The phrase, “You can eat an elephant one bite at a time,” applies here. Even better, God will help you in your devotion.
In prioritizing the things of God, don’t wait for motivation or inspiration; build a pattern. Put Jesus first every day, and every day pay tribute to the why of why you were born.
3. PRAY. I want to demystify the prayer life. Prayer is not for some elite group that’s hyper-spiritual. Prayer is to be utilized by all of us. We can come before God and let Him know our needs and requests. You can pray, “God, please help me with this,” and tell Him exactly what you need help with. If you wake up and don’t feel like praying, walk outside, look at the sky, and say, “God, I feel a little distant from You. You know my patterns. You know what’s going on. I repent. I open myself to You. Thank You for Your mercy.”
4. END YOUR DAY WITH GOD. Let God’s Word become a part of your world day and night (Psalm 1:2). I remember when I was young and struggled to sleep. My brain just kept going. But I noticed that if I turned on the light and read a Psalm or a passage from the Bible, my mind became centered back on God. It brought adjustment, peace, and helped me sleep. So, in prioritizing the things of God, don’t wait for motivation or inspiration; build a pattern. Put Jesus first every day, and every day pay tribute to the why of why you were born.
DEFINITION: rhythm, noun
Procedure or routine characterized by regularly recurring elements, activities, or factors.
SAY THIS OUT LOUD:
I won’t worry about anything; instead I will pray about everything. I will tell God what I need and thank Him for all He has done. Then I will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything I can understand. His peace will guard my heart and mind as I live in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7 NLT).
