Patterns of Provision

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits. Psalm 103:2

1. DON’T FRET. It’s easy to get agitated and freaked out about life, but God wants to lead us by quiet waters and restore our souls (Psalm 23:2). Anxiety in a heart weighs it down, but a good word makes it glad (Proverbs 12:25). Find the good word you need in the Bible. Its pages reveal God’s consistent provision through the ages. That faithful, stabilizing, abundant God is your God and you can trust Him to sustain you all through your life.

Do not fret because of evildoers, be not envious toward wrongdoers. For they will wither quickly like the grass and fade like the green herb. Psalm 37:1-2

2. DON’T BE ENVIOUS. As Christians, we aren’t driven, we’re called – and there is a big difference between the two. We aren’t driven by envy, jealousy, or fear of missing out. Instead we are called to proclaim God’s good news (Luke 4:17-19), called to bear fruit (John 15:16) and called out of darkness into God’s marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9). Meditate on Psalm 37 and let His overflowing abundance fill your heart with contentment. God has more than enough of everything you need.

Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:3-4

3. TRUST IN THE LORD. God provides, and He is absolutely consistent and faithful. Look at all the provision that comes out of the earth – He created dirt so that we can put seeds in the ground and food will grow. It’s a good reminder that God supplies. Sometimes fear can make us dread what lies ahead. But when we are trusting God, we can look forward to the future with peace and full confidence that God is our provider.

4. DELIGHT IN THE LORD. The best part of life is knowing God, loving Him, and having the assurance that He really loves you. It flips our priorities and focus away from our circumstances and toward God. Don’t be enamored with people or fearful of them. I’ve met true greatness and His name is Jesus. Yield to God and desire His will to be done in your life. It’s the best way to live.
