Look at This

September 1, 2017

Lift up your eyes on high and see who has created these stars, the One who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, not one of them is missing. Isaiah 40:26

1. LOOK AT THE STARS. When you look up at the clearest and brightest starry night, remember that God has named every single one of those stars. God told Abraham and Sarah, a senior childless couple, that He was going to create a nation through them as numerous as the stars in the sky. Abraham lifted up his eyes to a faithful God, and the Jewish nation was born out of that moment of obedience and faith.

2. LOOK AT THE WORD. You’re invited to examine God’s Word to see the reality of His plan, His love, and His life-transforming power. When you receive Jesus, you become transformed. Reading the Word helps you to avoid spiritual amnesia and reminds you that you are a new creation in Christ (James 1:22-25, 1 Corinthians 5:17).

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:18

3. LOOK AT JESUS. When you turn your eyes on Jesus and look full in His glorious face, things change. The eyes of the Lord are searching the earth so He can strongly support those whose hearts are His (2 Chronicles 16:9). So if you’re discouraged and you’ve been tempted to back off a little, don’t give up! God can re-ignite your heart. Lift your eyes off your circumstances and look to Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2).

Let God transform you,
Pastor Jeff

look, verb

PRAY THIS PRAYER:
God, I ask You to help me be sensitive to Your voice and obedient to You. Help me to not get busy with lesser things but to be available to You so that I can hit the mark. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13). Please help me to love You and stay on fire all the days of my life. I walk in mercy and I forgive everybody because You have forgiven me. I love You, Jesus! You are my Lord! Amen.
