Jesus Has Made You Worthy
September 19, 2011Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me. Revelation 3:20
Whenever Jesus shows up, things change. He ate with both tax collectors and Pharisees—people from all levels of society—regardless of what others thought. And now, He wants to be invited to dine, linger, and fellowship with us.
The centurion who asked Jesus to heal his servant described the aching awareness all humanity has had since Adam and Eve’s sin: “Lord, I am not worthy for You to come under my roof” (Matthew 8:8). If you’re feeling a sense of self-loathing or worthlessness, get your mind on what God’s thoughts are. “How great are Your works, O Lord! Your thoughts are very deep” (Psalm 92:5). There is nothing superficial about God. No platitudes come from Him. He is absolutely deep, beautiful, and crystal clear.
I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well. Psalm 139:14
When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained; what is man that You take thought of him, and the son of man that You care for him? Yet You have made him a little lower than God, and You crown him with glory and majesty! Psalm 8:3-5
Our soul needs to become aware of the fact that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. In the Old Testament psalms, David had a sense of his worth and value as a creation of God. Yet, how much more was our worth expressed when Jesus paid the price for our sins on the Cross and said, “I love you this much,” and sacrificed His own life so that we could have relationship and fellowship with God?
Regardless of your perceived value or your social status, Jesus wants to enter your home, your everyday world, and lift the burden off of you. He does answer prayer. He is present to help. He does heal the sick, save the lost, renew minds, deliver from temptation, and forgive sin. And He loves you. Open the door of your life to Jesus today.
God bless you,
Pastor Jeff
