GOD PROVIDES FOR YOU
September 6, 2024You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. Psalm 23:5a
1. HE PROVIDES IN EVERY SITUATION. Imagine you are sitting at a dinner table surrounded by enemies, yet the Lord comes and prepares a meal for you. I have seen examples of this while helping people in war zones, and I have seen it at our church when we had a flood in 1993 that caused widespread devastation. We would take volunteers into an area to clean up, and in the middle of all the mess and destruction, we would break for lunch and have a delicious, beautiful meal together. God wants to do that for you. He will supply all of your needs, even in a hostile situation. Whether you are facing marriage problems, conflicts with your child, going to a parent-teacher conference and there are some issues, or a clash at your work – God has you covered. He gives us daily bread, even in the middle of our challenges.
2. HE PREPARES AN ABUNDANT TABLE FOR YOU. “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20). My son-in-law and daughter invited the family over before they moved into their remodeled home. It was a beautiful evening around sunset, and there were a couple of new grandkids. We all enjoyed seeing them and having fun together in this new space. At the table that was prepared, there was plenty, too much even. That reminds me of God’s nature. He doesn’t hold back. He is a God of abundance.
3. HIS PRESENCE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH. Having a table prepared for you in the presence of your enemies does not mean you are in a bubble so encased that you do not even know your enemies are there. We know we are behind enemy lines in a fallen world. We know the devil tempts us, and we understand how challenging life can be. Yet God has prepared something to offer and to help in every situation. His presence is available to you. He has wisdom for you. Whenever God shows up, He brings stability, clarity, answers, solutions, and provision. I want to encourage you to open up the door of your heart to God. Repent of anything that you need to get right. “Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life” (Proverbs 4:23).
PRAY THIS PRAYER:
God, You have me covered. Because You are my shepherd, I will not be in need. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; my cup overflows. In Jesus’ Name, amen (Psalm 23:1, 4, 5).
God bless you,
Pastor Jeff Perry
