DIVINE ACTION
June 19, 2026It is time for the Lord to act, for they have broken Your law. Psalm 119:126
The writer of this Psalm is expressing, “Lord, I’m trying to be patient here, but this seems like a tipping point where I need You to act.” Have you ever felt like you were in a moment like this? I don’t feel like the psalmist is snapping his fingers and telling God what to do. I think he’s sensing and detecting that it’s a tipping point and that something has to give.
1. GOD IS PRESENT. God is not distant; He’s present. In fact, His nearness is embedded in the very name of the Messiah, the Savior: “‘They shall call His name Immanuel,’ which translated means, ‘God with us'” (Matthew 1:23). That’s why we’re exhorted in Hebrews to “draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16). It’s okay to pray, “God, I need Your help now.” We’re not being demanding or entitled. We’re approaching God with confidence because we have a relationship with Him, we’ve studied His Word, and we’ve learned that He is reliable.
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1
2. GOD IS MIGHTY. Whatever you are facing, not only is God present, He is powerful and inclined to do something about it! He’s not weak toward us; He’s mighty in us (2 Corinthians 13:3). “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord gives grace and glory; no good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly” (Psalm 84:11). God’s hand is not too short to save (Isaiah 59:1). And He is prone toward action.
3. GOD IS THE MASTER OF PERFECT TIMING. I was lost at sea while spearfishing in New Zealand after I got caught in a current way out in the open sea. Basically, I called out, “God, I need You, and I need You now.” God guided the captain of our boat to locate me in the middle of the ocean. It was like finding a needle in a haystack. He is a God of action, and He is the master of perfect timing. We see this throughout Scripture. It took Noah about 127 years from the time God said, “Build an ark,” until the time Noah completed it. And that was the day the animals came, Noah’s family was saved, God shut the door, and the earth flooded (Genesis 6-7). Or think about Lot and his family being warned and delivered at a significant transitional moment (Genesis 19:12-29). We can draw near to God and trust Him to work. He is the master of perfect timing – the God who has been faithful, who is faithful, and who will always be faithful.

PRAY THIS OUT LOUD:Revive me, Lord. Keep my heart right. Keep my fires burning. Help me to be sensitive to Your voice. And then, God, I need You to take action. I believe I receive when I pray (Mark 11:24). You are a strong God. You are faithful to a thousand generations (Deuteronomy 7:9; Psalm 105:8). I cast my cares on You (1 Peter 5:7). I put my trust in You. I worship You. I give You thanks and praise. Lord, You are mighty to save (Zephaniah 3:17), to heal (Psalm 103:2-3), and to deliver (Psalm 34:17-19). I trust You for breakthrough in my life and blessing today. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
