CASTING YOUR CARES
October 17, 2025Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7 NKJV
1. LAY YOUR BURDENS AT HIS FEET. The Old Testament says, “Cast your burden upon the Lord, and He will sustain you” (Psalm 55:22). The New Testament reiterates this truth: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7). God will guard our hearts and minds!
2. PRAY INSTEAD OF WORRY. Jesus said the worries of this life can choke the Word and make it unfruitful (Mark 4:19). Even though the Word is powerful and eternal (Hebrews 4:12; 11:3; John 1:14) – our worries and cares can choke its effectiveness in our lives. To combat that, Civil War chaplain E.M. Bounds wrote, “It is to the closet Paul directs us to go. The unfailing remedy for all burdensome, distressing care is prayer.” So we go to our prayer closets (Matthew 6:6) and whatever our concerns -kids, symptoms in the body, the welfare of our country – we pray. “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything” (Philippians 4:6a NLT).
3. GOD YOUR FATHER IS READY TO HELP. My first memory in life is my mom and stepdad’s wedding – the day I gained an earthly father. Then years later, I remember when I gave my heart to Jesus, and God became my Heavenly Father. Think of a loving father – how he nurtures, provides, and tends to His children. That instinct comes from our Heavenly Father. Jesus revealed God not as a distant ruler but as “Our Father in heaven.” Through Jesus, we’ve received “a spirit of adoption” and can cry out, “Abba, Father.” (Romans 8:15). Whatever you are facing today, you can bring it to God. He is ready to help.
DEFINITION: bur·den, noun
That which is borne with labor or difficulty; that which is grievous, wearisome or oppressive.
PRAY THIS OUT LOUD:
I cast my cares on You today, God. I thank You God, that You supply all of my needs. I am trusting you Lord. You are faithful – mighty to save and deliver. I believe I receive when I pray. Thank You for Your love toward me, that Your ear is inclined to my prayers, and that when I pray in the Name of Jesus to the Father, I get breakthrough. Amen.
