A New Spirit

August 17, 2018

Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances. Ezekiel 36:26-27

1. SALVATION BRINGS CONNECTION. God is inviting us to know His thoughts (1 Corinthians 2:16). The new birth – salvation through Jesus – is not just verbiage. We actually become a new kind of being where our spirits can connect with God’s Spirit.

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

2. THE WORD OF GOD BRINGS RENEWAL. We are spirits, we have souls, and we live in bodies. Every day you can choose to be governed either by your new spirit or by your flesh. Distinguishing between the two hinges on how much your mind is getting renewed in the Word of God. There is so much seeking after intellectual, emotional, and physical fulfillment in the world, but there is a better way: don’t rely on your own understanding, but seek God’s way of thinking. Take time to seek Him and get into His Word, and let your inner self get renewed every day.

God bless you!

PRAY THIS PRAYER:
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me (Psalm 51:10). I repent for any sin in my life and ask You to forgive me. Jesus, You are Lord of my life. I ask for Your Spirit in me to help me walk in and obey Your Word. In Jesus’ name, amen.

re·new, verb
To make like new: restore to freshness, vigor, or perfection. To make new spiritually: regenerate.
