How to Strengthen Yourself in the Lord

January 20, 2017

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Ephesians 6:10

1. ENTER INTO GOD’S PRESENCE. God has strength corresponding to everything we need and everything we are called to do—both for today and for our entire lives. Prayer is not just a discipline or duty; it’s a delight designed as a bridge to help us enter into God’s presence. When we get in the presence of the Lord and start praising Him and thanking Him, joy and strength will come into our situations (Psalm 16:11; Nehemiah 8:10).

2. FEED ON GOD’S WORD. The way to build spiritual muscle is through resistance and protein intake. Life provides plenty of resistance, but we also need the protein of the Word. It will change the way we think and speak. That’s why the enemy spends day and night trivializing the importance of getting filled with Scripture.

3. SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED. Staying in church keeps us at an advantage. It reminds us that we all have a place in the body of Christ. When I go to prayer meetings I find myself praying more, and it makes me aware that I am called to pray. If you have been out of the habit of going to church, just get right back in! When you maintain the rhythm of the simple, beneficial exercise of the Word, prayer, and staying in church, then you’ll remain strong in the Lord!

Press on,
Pastor Jeff
