THE VALUE OF GOD’S WORD
March 27, 2026The law of Your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces. Psalm 119:72
1. GOD’S WORD IS WORTH MORE THAN GOLD. Gold has been the focal point of currency for millennia worldwide. There’s a high value placed on it. As I’m writing this, gold is over $4,088 per ounce. The writer of this psalm is saying that as important and valuable as silver and gold are, God’s Word is better.
2. GOD’S WORD BRINGS YOUR LIFE INTO ALIGNMENT. Years ago, my wife and I bought an old 1924 farmhouse and began rehabbing it. The foundation and walls had settled. I jacked up the floor and used a level and a plumbline to see where the wall wasn’t straight and how to bring the wall back into alignment. God’s Word does this for our thinking.
God’s Word is a faithful standard that provides equilibrium for our lives.
3. GOD’S WORD IS ETERNAL. The pharaohs of old lined their tombs with gold and made beautiful statuary and furniture, but they couldn’t take it with them. We come into the world with nothing. We leave with nothing. So, we must make sure in our hearts and minds that we are storing up the amazing wealth of the Word of God every day, all the time!
DEFINITION: stan·dard, noun
Something set up and established by authority as a rule for the measure of quantity, weight, extent, value, or quality.
SAY THIS OUT LOUD: I treasure God’s Word in my heart. When it goes forth, it does not return empty. It accomplishes what God desires in my life and succeeds in the matter for which He sent it (Isaiah 55:11).
