The Rescue

April 25, 2011

Rescue: Recovery or preservation from loss or danger; deliver; to free from harm or evil; save.*

God rescued us from dead-end alleys and dark dungeons. He’s set us up in the kingdom of the Son he loves so much, the Son who got us out of the pit we were in, got rid of the sins we were doomed to keep repeating. Colossians 1:13-14 The Message

Freedom. Jesus was sent on a rescue mission to save broken humanity. God in His infinite love and mercy rescued us from the pit of despair and hopelessness and traded all our sin for His righteousness. Now, we can be free!

I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. Romans 8:38 New Living Translation

Unconditional love. The Bible says that nothing can separate you from God’s love. This is so hard to understand if you have been unloved or if you don’t like yourself. But Jesus is so wonderful—you don’t have to try to fix yourself and get better before calling out to Jesus—He is on a rescue mission to save you right where you are. You are drowning in quicksand, and Jesus wants to pull you out and give you new life and make you a new person.

The best is yet to come. Jesus knows how to rescue us in times of trouble and calm the storms of life. When sorrows weigh us down, doubts rise up in our soul, or our burdens are too much to bear—He is our refuge. Your life is not over. The God who rescued people in the Bible is the same God who wants to help you in your situation today. Call out to God and He will answer you.

To receive Jesus, pray this prayer:

Dear God, in my heart I believe the truth about Jesus—that He’s Your Son and that He died for me and rose from the dead. Forgive me for all my sins. I receive Jesus into my life right now. You tell me what to do and I’ll do it. Help me to start a new life and follow You with my whole heart. Amen.

God bless you!
Pastor Jeff
