The Availability of God’s Abundance

May 13, 2016

Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house except a jar of oil.” 2 Kings 4:2

1. GOD USES WHAT YOU HAVE. In the Bible, a woman approached the prophet Elisha for help because a creditor was coming to take her children. God asks that we bring what we have: our only jar of oil, our empty containers, and ourselves, and then watch the miracles God will do just with what we have.

Then he said, “Go, borrow vessels at large for yourself from all your neighbors, even empty vessels; do not get a few…and pour out into all these vessels, and you shall set aside what is full.” 2 Kings 4:3-4

2. GOD INCLUDES OTHERS. God wants to give you so much that it overflows to others. Elisha told the woman to get her neighbors’ jars and God filled them with enough oil to pay off all her debts with more left to live on! God wants to change things in your life so that you can overcome and have abundance.

And he [Elisha] said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt, and you and your sons can live on the rest.” 2 Kings 4:1-7b

3. GOD MAKES YOU A PRODUCER. When you look past lack, emptiness and hurts and you look to Jesus, He transforms you from a consumer into a producer. Be willing to pour out what you have and sow it in obedience to God’s prompting and God will multiply it. It’s time to get ready for what’s ahead!

Get ready to overflow!
Pastor Jeff

PRAY THIS PRAYER:
I thank You, God, that the surpassing greatness of power is from You and not from myself (2 Corinthians 4:6-7). Today I have more than enough—overflowing love, grace, and resources toward each person and circumstance I encounter. Thank You, Jesus. Amen.

A·bun·dance, noun
An extremely plentiful or oversufficient quantity or supply. Overflowing fullness.
