The Amazing Perspective of God’s Word
September 4, 2015Your testimonies also are my delight; they are my counselors. Psalm 119:24
CRAVE THE WORD. Pack yourself with God’s Word. There are a lot of ways to read it: as a whole from Genesis to Revelation, line by line for doctrine, or study by subject with a topical Bible Promise Book. If you haven’t read the Bible lately, read a few verses right now to push the reset button on your brain. Read Psalm 119, which is all about longing for God’s Word and the amazing counsel you can get from it.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Matthew 5:6
GET COUNSEL FROM THE WORD. We all have blind spots and occasionally need perspective. Let the abundance of the Word of God counsel you out of foolishness into wisdom, out of fear into hope and faith, and out of inactivity into hope and fruitfulness.
In abundance of counselors there is victory. Proverbs 11:14b
OBEY THE WORD. Faith is hearing what God has said and then believing Him enough to act on what He commanded. Acting on God’s Word makes you adequate and equipped for every good work and produces amazing fruit and reward.
All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
PRAY THIS PRAYER Based on Psalm 119
Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven. Open my eyes that I may behold wonderful things from Your Law. Revive me and strengthen me according to Your Word. You are good and do good; teach me Your statutes. Teach me good discernment and knowledge, for I believe in Your commandments. Your Word I treasure in my heart that I may not sin against You. I will also speak of Your testimonies before kings and shall not be ashamed. Amen!
