Nuggets From Romans 8
September 29, 2014Just as miners prospect for gold, we can search out the Scriptures to find amazing truths. Let these few nuggets from Romans Chapter 8 encourage you to dig deep and prospect God’s Word for yourself.
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. Romans 8:2
1. A Higher Law. This profoundly communicates the fact that a law from God surpasses a lesser law. Like the law of thrust and lift supersedes the law of gravity (so airplanes can fly), the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has freed us from the law of sin and death.
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Romans 8:11
2. Healing. Jesus broke the impenetrable wall of sin that blocked us from God. Now we have received this amazing provision that gives life to our mortal bodies.
In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. Romans 8:26
3. Help From The Holy Spirit. When our humanity reaches its limit and we don’t know how to pray, we can connect with God and the Holy Spirit will intercede for us. This is what I love about praying in tongues: not only can we build ourselves up in our faith (Jude 20), but we can pray out mysteries that we don’t even know (1 Corinthians 14:2).
Daily Confession:
Because of Jesus I am set free and healed. I look into the mirror of God’s Word so I won’t forget what kind of person He has made me to be (James 1:23). I explore and search the Scriptures to find the truth that is better than gold or precious stones (Psalm 119:72). I have the help of the Holy Spirit to guide me where I have never been before.
Prospect, verb
To explore or search (for). From Classical Latin, lookout; to look forward; to look: see, spy.
God bless you,
Pastor Jeff
