How to Live Ready for Jesus

April 8, 2016

This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:14

1. HONOR JESUS. Jesus is the Messiah and He fulfilled every prophecy about Himself, and some day soon Jesus is going to come back. In the meantime, we are to exalt and acknowledge Him. And just like the crowds cried out “Hosanna!” (“Save us!”) when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, we are also coming into a time when our city, our nation, and our world will be stirred to ask for God’s salvation.

Most of the crowd spread their coats in the road, and others were cutting branches from the trees and spreading them in the road. The crowds going ahead of Him [Jesus], and those who followed, were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David; Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest!” Matthew 21:8-9

2. SPEND TIME WITH GOD. Spend an hour in prayer. If that feels like too long, pray for 15 minutes or five minutes. Open your Bible and read it, and God will bring restoration and peace to your soul. If you want to see power flow in your life, pray in the Spirit. If you want to see stability in your life, stay in church.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. Romans 1:16a

3. PREACH THE GOSPEL. The Gospel is powerful. Don’t let the devil shut your mouth. Understand the calling on your life to be help and hope to those around you – both covertly in your quiet time of prayer and overtly when God tells you to walk up to someone and say, “God loves you and has a plan for your life.”

Get ready!

PRAY THIS PRAYER:
Jesus, I love You and praise You! I put You first in my life. Thank You for this life of adventure with You. I’ll obey everything You tell me to do. Show me when and where You want me to share the Gospel and I’ll do it. Show me who I should be praying for and I’ll pray. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
