Living Water

July 30, 2021

Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” But this He spoke of the Spirit. John 7:37-39a

1. GET IN THE FLOW. God’s flow is life-giving; it’s deep and beautiful. When Jesus offered the Samaritan woman living water (John 4:10), He looked past ethnic, gender, and religious divisions. He knew her condition and offered her eternal life. He knew her sin and was there to forgive her. The Holy Spirit never changes and the New Testament truths are for us today. Jesus is calling out to all of us, inviting us to partake in His flow.

2. DON’T STOP THE FLOW. In order to keep pipes from freezing, it’s important to always keep the water flowing. Unforgiveness and worry can stop up the flow of the Holy Spirit in our lives. When we forgive and repent, we push the reset button, removing the blockages. To cure stagnation and let living water flow through, you can continually lift your voice in worship and praise to God. Pray in the Spirit as you go about your day. Get in the habit of quoting scriptures out loud all the time.

But whoever drinks of the water that I [Jesus] will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life. John 4:14

3. INVITE OTHERS INTO GOD’S FLOW. God has given you the ministry of reconciliation, and Jesus is reaching out through you to a lost generation and to those who have never experienced God’s love. God didn’t design us to be reservoir containers but channels with outflow to reach this dry, parched world.
