Your Identity Is Safe With God

May 3, 2019

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. John 10:10

1. ORIGIN. In the beginning was God. You were fearfully and wonderfully made by an intelligent designer who wants to reveal mysteries to you. But the devil is after your identity. He will ruthlessly try to obscure who you are in Jesus, where you come from, what you have, and what you can do.

2. VALUE. Gideon is an example of someone who did not know his value. When the angel of the Lord told Gideon that God was with him, he replied: “If the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles?” (Judges 6:14a). Gideon kept looking at his limitations: “My family is the least, I am the youngest, God has abandoned us.” But God kept calling him a valiant warrior, even while he was hiding out. So don’t go by how you feel. Walk by faith. If God is calling you a valiant warrior, then you can be a valiant warrior!

But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does. James 1:25

3. PURPOSE. If you’ve lost sight of your identity in Jesus, look in the mirror of God’s Word to remind yourself that you were created with a purpose and you hold great value. Your prayers can change the future. Your words of encouragement can help someone out of a desperate place. Whatever your yesterday was like, God’s mercies are new every morning and He renews you day by day.

God bless you!

Because of Jesus . . .
I am firmly rooted, built up, established in my faith, and overflowing with gratitude (Colossians 2:7). I am God’s workmanship, created in Christ for good works (Ephesians 2:10). I have received the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Jesus, the eyes of my understanding being enlightened (Ephesians 1:17-18). I am submitted to God and the devil flees from me, because I resist him in the Name of Jesus (James 4:7).

val·ue, noun
From Old French, from valoir, from Latin valere. To be worth, be strong.
