The Great Commission

February 9, 2015

The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord. Luke 4:18-19

Know Your Job Description. When Jesus stood up in the synagogue and declared His job description, He was setting the standard for the ages to come: for the disciples, for the church, and for you right now in the 21st century. Jesus said, “He who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do…” (John 14:12).

Keep Advancing. Instead of using your energies just to survive and maintain, God wants you to advance His plan on this earth. When Satan attacked Jesus in the wilderness, Jesus responded with the Word of God (Luke 4:1-13). “IT IS WRITTEN” is a formidable weapon against unbelief, identity crises, and not understanding your God-given spiritual authority.

And He [Jesus] called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases. And He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to perform healing. Luke 9:1-2

Carry the Gospel. The Gospel is contagious and you are called to be a carrier of this Good News. As we catch this mandate from Jesus, we’re going to see greater levels of opportunities to engage with the brokenhearted captives, to pray for healing for those who are sick, to help free those in bondage. By the power of the Holy Spirit we can do this!

Thank You, God, that I have power from the Holy Spirit. I am anointed to preach the Gospel to the poor, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind. God has given me authority over demons and the power to set free the oppressed and heal diseases in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
