Soul Prosperity

October 27, 2014

Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers. 3 Joh 1:2

1. Hear the Word. So many things are vying for our attention, but we are responsible to tend to our souls (the mind, will, and emotions). God tells us to “in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls” (James 1:21). The right response to pressure, decision-making, and mood changes is to get back into God’s promises and ponder them. As we receive God’s Word, it will change the way we think.

But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. James 1:22

2. Be a Doer of the Word. We must be willing to take action on what God says. If God says pray, pray. If God says give, give. If He says forgive, forgive. If God says don’t gossip, bridle your tongue. If God says cast down imaginations, do it. If He says resist the devil, resist the devil. As we hear and obey we will increase our capacity and advance.

And I pray that the fellowship of your faith may become effective through the knowledge of every good thing which is in you for Christ’s sake. Philemon 1:6

3. Finish Strong. Don’t grow weary, don’t shrink back, and don’t surrender to the vicious attacks of the devil (Isaiah 55:11). As you humble your heart and receive God’s Word, you will succeed in what God sends you to do. You are not where you’ve been and you are not where you’re going to be. The best is yet to come.

Daily Confession based on Romans 12:1-2
By the mercies of God, I present my body a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is my spiritual service of worship. I am not conformed to this world, but I am transformed by the renewing of my mind so that I may prove what the will of God is—that which is good, acceptable, and perfect.
