Focused & Steadfast.
Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2 There is a road between the beginning of a journey and the final destination. It's called destiny. We have a destiny we know we shall fulfill, because the author of it is Christ Himself. He is the author and the finisher of our faith—and I also believe He is the God of the "in-between."

Most of life is the in-between. It's fraught with challenge and difficulty. But we are required not to look to the left or to the right, but to keep our eyes focused on Jesus' straight and narrow way. We have been equipped with a voice that says, "This is the way. Walk in it" (Isaiah 30:21). He said He'd lead us by His Holy Spirit and guide us into all truth (John 16:13), meaning He'd guide us away from deception and error.

He told us in 2 Peter 3:17-18 to stand guard against the error of unprincipled men so we don't fall from our own steadfastness. Steadfastness is to be fixed or unchanging, steady, firmly loyal or constant, unswerving. By the grace of God, we can be steadfast, we can keep our eyes on Jesus, press on (Philippians 3:12), endure, and finish the course (2 Timothy 4:7). We are to be "steadfast, immovable, and always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that our labor is not in vain in Him" (1 Corinthians 15:58).

He has work for us to do. Mind you, He's not telling us to "do work for God." But He's let us be in on the program and be co-laborers with Him, winning souls. We get to be in on bringing people the message of hope and life that can change them forever. Make no mistake about it: God has a plan (Jeremiah 29:11), in detail, and we get to be part of it. Let's stay steadfast and focused on Jesus—ready and available for all that He has for us.

Press on!
