Everyday People.
So teach us to number our days, that we may present to You a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12 It is important as we go through life that we value all of our tens of thousands of regular days. The math is correct. It's tens of thousands. On your 55th birthday you will have already lived for 20,075 days. This life really is short, but somehow it's also long. We have a lot of days to obey God with!

Sometimes we will have days that are off-the-charts-extraordinary. And some days will be exceptionally challenging and will try to take you out. But in the grand scheme of things those days are few and far between. As Christians, we are not to be motivated by what happens to us. No hanging our hats on the high or low days. We have got to see things as they really are.

Days that might not seem outwardly sensational are actually beautiful. These are the days when we change the world by the simple choices we make. When we choose to pray, we change the world. When we choose to go out of our way to call an old friend, visit a lonely family member, or give a little extra, we change the world. When we draw near to God in time dedicated solely to being with Him, He changes us, and we change the world.

There is purpose for each of our days: To draw near to God, to gain what He has for us, and then, in turn, to go out and change this crazy world. By God's grace, He allows us to play a part in the salvation of a generation. It's awesome!

Each day we need to look beyond ourselves to the opportunities that present themselves. Someone around you is hurting or confused or lonely or afraid. Someone around you thinks they've got it all together, but they're headed straight for an eternity in hell. You have what they need—the love of Jesus!

Every day it's good to wake up thankful for another 24 hours to draw near to God and to be used by Him. It's important to number our days. Value them. Rejoice in them. Every day is a gift from God. Let's act like it.

God bless you!
