A Fruitful Life

April 25, 2015

Those who sow in tears shall reap with joyful shouting. He who goes to and fro weeping, carrying his bag of seed, shall indeed come again with a shout of joy, bringing his sheaves with him. Psalm 126:5-6

Sow the Seed, Reap the Harvest. God is glorified when we are fruitful (John 15:8). The ground is always barren before the seeds are introduced—that’s why there is seed-time first, and then comes the harvest. You may have sown in tears, but don’t quit—you will reap in joy.

“Shout for joy, O barren one, you who have borne no child; break forth into joyful shouting and cry aloud, you who have not travailed; for the sons of the desolate one will be more numerous than the sons of the married woman,” says the Lord. Isaiah 54:1

Rejoice Before the Breakthrough. God is telling us to face off with the desolate places and to rejoice before we see the fruit. If you are experiencing the barrenness of depression, barrenness in your family, in your finances, in your health, take a minute vacation and retrieve some blessing from the past. Thank God for two or three things that He has done for you. And then thank Him for the breakthrough yet to be seen.

Have a Passion to Bear Fruit. God knows how to take barren areas and make them fruitful. In the Bible it says “A worker’s appetite works for him, for his hunger urges him on” (Proverbs 16:26). Get hungry to see breakthrough and fruitfulness in your life and in the lives of people around you. We’ve only seen a glimpse of the harvest, but God calls us to look up and see that the fields are ripe for it.

Daily Confession:
God has chosen and appointed me to bear fruit. Whatever I ask the Father in Jesus’ Name, He will give it to me. And my fruit will remain (John 15:16). Thank You, Jesus!

God bless you,

When the Lord brought back the captive ones of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter and our tongue with joyful shouting; then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad. Psalm 126:1-3
