Face the Obstacles

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. Romans 8:2

There is a law of sin and death, but there is a higher and overriding law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus. The superseding law of what God will do in our lives is as real as the “law of lift” that Orville and Wilbur Wright discovered when they first flew an airplane. And this life in Christ Jesus will enable us to face and override anything the devil throws our way.

Turn Your Eyes On Jesus

For what does the scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness.”
Romans 4:3

I met a modern day prospector on the beaches of California. He had a metal detector and a fanny pack full of his precious-metal findings. Fascinated, I asked him, “What did you find?” He excitedly began to show me his treasure of gold rings, watches, and old coins.

It's God's Battle

Thus says the Lord to you, “Do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God’s.” 2 Chronicles 20:15b

Are we ever going to learn that last line? How often do we try to take the battle back into our own hands! Our God is a warrior and has a plan for this whole universe. He knows more about the future than we do about the past, and He is worthy of our trust.

Confidence

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6

Let that verse steep in your spirit. What God begins, He brings to completion. Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass (1 Thessalonians 5:24). Whether your life is humming or you feel fatigued, God is faithful yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8; 1 Corinthians 1:9a; Psalm 33:4).

The Effective Life 1

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

This verse shines a light on our position in this life. The God of the universe has given divinely powerful weapons to empower His people for an effective life! God has designated us to reinforce what Jesus has done through the power of His death, burial, and resurrection.

Behavior of the Desperate

Key Bible verses: Luke 19:1-10; Mark 10:46-52 The Bible talks about desperate men and women who needed God to show up in a big way. Pastor Jeff looks at their stories and exhorts us to seek God in our own desperation — with the confidence that Jesus will not pass us by but stop and give us what we so desperately need.

God Is Faithful

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. Philippians 4:8

You may have been meditating on some pretty weird stuff, but God wants us to focus on things that are excellent and worthy of praise. If we are really going to revolutionize the world, we’ve got to be different in our thinking.

The Reward of Acting on the Word

The judgments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogether. They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them Your servant is warned; in keeping them there is great reward. Psalm 19:9b-11

The Word is a map to a blessed life. It tells us what to do with our problems, finances, and relationships.

Continue in the Faith

Key Bible verses: Colossians 1:23; Philippians 3:14 The Bible is filled with illustrations of men and women who continued in the faith–even though they could not see the outcome of trials. Like they did long ago, we must have confidence in God’s faithfulness today and His promises that He will bring us through every challenge we face. This is true faith.

Called And Established

And David realized that the Lord had established him as king over Israel, and that his kingdom was highly exalted, for the sake of His people Israel. 2 Chronicles 14:4

Just like He established King David, God wants to establish you in fruitfulness. Realizing that God is establishing you for something of significance will build in you the confidence to not shrink back—even during times of challenge.
